Coated Dies (CED®)
Coated Dies (CED®)
Greater dimensional stability. High Productivity.
Low Maintenance.
WEFA’s coated extrusion dies have superior durability because the bearing channel is protected from wear and tear. With our own patented coating technology, we have achieved high-level form and dimensional stability for the pressed profiles. The dies are nearly maintenance-free due to the fact that no nitriding and repolishing is required.
Without the need for nitriding cycles in coated dies, the extrusion process can be carried out with fewer interruptions. In addition, it is possible to increase the extrusion speed due to lower friction and reduced exit temperatures. These features allow you to increase the productivity of the extrusion factory.

CED® from the Market Leader:
High productivity, dimensional stability and almost entirely maintenance-free
WEFA’s CED® extrusion dies rev up the productivity in the extrusion factory - thanks to longer service life, optimized profile surfaces, higher extrusion speeds, and minimal corrections. This is due to the dies’ exceptional durability: The bearing channel, protected from wear and tear, ensures a high-level form and dimensional stability for the pressed profiles. The dies are also nearly maintenance-free due to the fact that no nitriding and re-polishing is required. On top of that, our coating technology leads to significantly less production downtime while reducing the set-up time in the extrusion plant.
CED® extrusion dies allow the user to achieve even the thinnest mandrels and tongues. The reduced friction and the lower strand exit temperature allow you to work at increased extrusion speeds. The manufacturing of heat exchanger dies (such as MP/MMP) is one of WEFA’s specialties. They are constructed using cartridge or sandwich technology with mandrel and plate inserts. With the different CVD coatings adjusted to the corresponding aluminum-alloy type, even the smallest mandrels and extremely thin walls become possible.
