Get a taste of practical work experience:
do a student internship
Do you want to find out what kind of career really suits you? Take advantage of the many opportunities WEFA offers! Whether you’re looking for a university-level internship, want to write your thesis at the company, complete a technical research study or a school internship, WEFA can provide you with a glimpse into professional life.
No question: It can be quite challenging for high school students to choose the right apprenticeship. WEFA’s student internship program can help you decide on your future profession. You get to know the company and our apprentices and can find out about the different professions WEFA offers. It’s a great opportunity to gain new and exciting experience and also to ask the trainers and other apprentices any questions you may have. You also get to know what qualifications you might need if you want to do your apprenticeship at WEFA. We provide professional orientation to students at the German Realschule (BORS), Gymnasium (BOGY) or the Gemeinschaftsschule.
You have the following options:
Commercial office tasks:
If you have good organizational skills, are strong in math, German and English, you would be a good candidate for one of our commercial internships. These internships introduce you to modern communication tools and digital office technology. You also help your team by making sure that the numbers are correct. These internships prepare you for the following professions:
- Industrial manager (m/f/d) with / without additional qualifications in international management
- IT specialist (m/f/d) specialized in system integration
Technology:
If you’re more into drilling, filing, mechatronics or IT, and you’re good in math and physics too, then a technical internship would be a perfect fit. Depending on the department you are assigned to, you have the possibility of learning different methods in our training workshop. Here you will work independently on projects as well as in teams. These internships prepare you for the following professions:
- Industrial mechanic (m/f/d)
- Cutting machine operator (m/f/d)
- Mechatronics engineer (m/f/d)
- Technical product designer (m/f/d)
- Machine and plant operator (m/f/d)
It’s important for us that you are:
- enthusiastic and like to learn
- really interested in the profession you chose to learn
- ideally already informed about our company
Internships at WEFA can be quite valuable - Particularly for you! Because we invest in your training while focusing on your future: Many of our interns end up working for us later on. What’s also in your study guidelines: You can do the following internships at WEFA:
Mandatory internships /voluntary internships:
Get to know the working process in a department, work independently on tasks and small projects, and become part of the department team (duration: 3-6 months).
Technical research study:
Here you have the opportunity to work independently on a research project after the topic has been defined together with the department. If you’re doing the work in-house at WEFA, the project steps are clarified directly with your department staff. During this time (one complete school year), you will have a personal advisor from the department to bounce ideas off of.
This is what you bring to the job:
You have the theoretical background in this technical area and a good grade point average. We’re also looking for the following qualities:
- Flexibility and commitment
- Social skills and ability to work well in teams
- Openness to cultural differences
- Good English skills - and other foreign languages
Very practical: your thesis
It takes a lot to write a thesis: in addition to having the theoretical knowledge, you also need strong technical support in order to expand your knowledge and personal skills. You can count on the WEFA staff for personal supervision and for sharing their practical experience. And to work closely with the corresponding college / university of applied sciences. Together with your supervisor, you develop your topic, which is always linked to a current project at our company. In this way, your ideas contribute to driving forward developments in our company and improving quality standards. In this way, you already leave your own personal mark on the company as part of your final thesis and maybe this opens the door to a successful professional future at the WEFA!
You are looking for a topic for your thesis? Then get in touch with us, you are welcome to name a topic. If you need support, we can also discuss topic suggestions with you. Be brave: Take the "last big step" of your training with us.
What makes you stand out:
You have a strong theoretical background in this technical area and a solid grade point average. We’re also looking for the following qualities:
- Flexibility and commitment
- Social skills and ability to work well in teams
